Emergency Services

Southern Health offers Emergency Services through two hospitals:

Description of Services

• Both Adult and Paediatric services are provided.
• Departments are staffed by specialist emergency physicians.
• All patients are triaged (assessed) and treated according to the urgency of their condition.
• Patient leaflets are available in the waiting area.

GP Referrals

• These should be made by telephone and a letter should be forwarded providing all relevant details.
• Each patient is assessed on arrival in the department and an appropriate course of action is decided upon. Patients may be transferred to other hospitals.
