South East Alcohol and Drug Service (SEADS)

SEADS operates from Dandenong, Springvale, Cranbourne, Berwick, Youth Stop, Pakenham and Doveton sites of Southern Health. SEADS provides a comprehensive regional program for the management of issues relating to Alcohol and Drug use.

Service types include withdrawal; including community residential, outpatient and home-based, adult and youth counselling, Needle Syringe Program, the Southern Dual Diagnosis Service and Acquired Brain Injury, Forensic Services, Addiction Medicine Unit (based at Monash Medical Centre Clayton and Dandenong Hospital), Primary Care Clinic, including a pharmacotherapy service, and drink drive licence restoration.

Intake and Assessment staff - First Response - are available from 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday and work from the Thomas Street Site.  Drop-in assessment times are offered along with booked appointments. Drop-in times are as follows:

Mon, Wed & Fri – 9am - 1pm
Tues & Thurs – 1pm - 3pm

Please note the drop-in times operate on a ‘first in, best dressed’ method and whilst we will do our best to assess you if we are particularly busy with other people who arrived before you we may need to ask you to return the following day.

The Addiction Medicine Unit

The Addiction Medicine Unit provides assessment and treatment for drug and alcohol affected patients in both the hospital and community.  We accept referrals from inpatient units and from GPs.  We can assist with planning detoxification and relapse prevention.  Opioid substitution treatments are not provided.
