If you are a graduate midwife from direct entry, double degree or post-graduate studies, our program is the perfect way to launch your new career.
The program commences in February. A second, smaller intake may be organised mid year depending on available vacancies.
The graduate midwife program at Southern Health offers placements at one of three sites conducting maternity services:
Whether you are a post graduate midwife who wants a structured program, or a Bachelor of Midwifery graduate who has not had much high risk experience, we can support you through your first year as a midwife with:
- Combined nursing/midwifery graduate year available for double degree graduates with placements in newborn services or medical/surgical area
- Four rotations for added consolidation
- Full or part time employment.
From a solid and stable base, graduates move confidently into ongoing and more advanced midwifery practice. Southern Health offers a variety of services within maternity care, from tertiary level to low-risk midwifery led models, so the opportunities to learn are extensive.
