Biostatistical Consulting Service

We are delighted to advise that Southern Health and Monash University’s School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM) have established a Biostatistical Consulting Service for Southern Health clinical staff.

Staff employed by Southern Health at any campus of Southern Health are now eligible to access biostatistical consulting services at no cost for an initial consultation. This new biostatistical consulting service is headed by A/Prof Sophia Zoungas.

We are pleased to be able to provide biostatistical support to the staff of Southern Health, as part of the mutual benefits of our co-location within the Monash Health Translation Precinct based at Monash Medical Centre Clayton.

The Biostatistical Consulting Service will provide support in two main areas in the development, execution and reporting of clinical research studies and clinical audits:

  • advice on statistical rigour and sample size
  • general advice on study design and grant writing

In order to be able to organise an initial consultation, the Application Form needs to be completed by the Southern Health staff member and co-signed by their relevant Head of Department or Research Director as appropriate. The completed Application Form will need to be emailed to Eldho Paul.

An initial consultation will then be arranged with Eldho Paul or Sanjeeva Ranasinha (our dedicated biostatisticians) at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton and statistical support totalling 2 hours provided. If additional advice or time is required then this can be provided at a quoted rate of $200 per hour (GST inc.) charged to individuals or departments as appropriate."
