Cardiothoracic research
The Cardiothoracic Unit has an active program of basic and clinical research.Strong collaborations exist with the Monash University Department of Surgery and the Monash Institute for Medical Research (MIMR).
Multiple higher degree students are attached to the unit .
Areas of research interest include
- inflammation associated with cardiopulmonary bypass
- minimally invasive and robotic surgery techniques
- the performance of prosthetic cardiac valves
- the research applications of cardiothoracic surgery databases.
Completed projects 2007-2008
