Clinical Gait Analysis Service
The Centre provides detailed assessment of adults and children with walking difficulties resulting from injury, neurological, neuromuscular or musculo-skeletal conditions.
Our team consists of a rehabilitation specialist, an orthopaedic surgeon, senior physiotherapists, a biomedical engineer and a biomechanist. An assessment may include:
- medical assessment (if requested or required)
- physical examination including range of motion and strength testing
- split-screen video capture
- three-dimensional motion analysis, providing spatial-temporal, kinematic and kinetic information
- electromyography providing information about the timing of muscle activity
- instrumented walkway providing spatial-temporal and centre of pressure data
Assessment results provide information on the most appropriate management of a patient's mobility plus level of progress.
