Bequests
Making a bequest to your local hospital through your estate is a wonderful way of making a significant gift to an organisation providing vital health care to your community.
Of course, your immediate family should always be the first ones you consider when dividing up your estate, but setting aside some money for your local hospital is easy to do.
Talk to you solicitor or trustee company. Take our bequest brochure to your meeting with them. It has helpful information.

To leave an alternative gift
Sometimes a nominated beneficiary may predecease the person for whom the will is written, or be unwilling to accept the specific bequest. In this instance, it is possible to redirect the bequest to another beneficiary. To make an alternative gift simply precede the above general wording with the following clause:
“Should any or one of my beneficiaries predecease me or be unable or unwilling to accept my bequest, I give that portion to [insert name of Southern Health Service, for example Dandenong Hospital].
To leave a bequest for a specific purpose
(For example patient care and treatment, research, education)
Insert the words “to be used for the purposes of” state the purpose, location/unit or service to benefit.
For example: to be used to for the purpose of acquiring medical equipment for the treatment and care of patients in the Monash Medical Centre’s Intensive Care Unit.
