New Director of Research Strategy commences: Professor John Funder was appointed in May 2008. Implementing the Strategy: Substantial progress has been made in implementing many of the recommendations of the Research Strategy. I have been particularly encouraged and heartened at the enthusiastic response from all the staff to the Strategy and their desire to embrace and nurture a research culture at Southern Health. The formation of the Research Advisory Council which meets monthly and the establishment of the Research Directorate, to help facilitate research administration, have been important developments.
